The Sun
Our Big Beautiful Star

You know I can't figure out which one is more beautiful... sunrise or sunset. They both are spectacular to watch. They each set a different mood for me. At dawn nature is waking up. The bright rays are peeking over the eastern horizon.

No matter what part of the world you are in nature does it's thing in the 'a.m.'. Although there is another set of creatures (whether they have two legs or four :-) that come alive in the 'p.m.'. In the evening when the sun begins to disappear beautiful hues streak across the sky. Scenes many times to breath taking for words. It seems to quiet your soul.

In the movie "Joe verses the volcano" there's a scene where Tom Hanks (Joe) is adrift on a raft and the moon begins to rise. Joe speaks to God realizing how insignificant he is in the whole scheme of things. It's beautiful.

Big Help

The sun is one of our most beautiful, and powerful resources. It separates the night from the day, and gives us our seasons. It is intertwined in our cycle of life, without it the earth would be one
giant ball of ice.

It gives off tremendous amounts of energy each day. It heats our oceans, powers our solar panels, and is the source of the reflected light that allows the moon and planets light up the sky at night.

We need a certain amount of day light each day, it gives us our Vitamin E which is needed for good health.

However we need to protect ourselves from overexposure.

Big Threat

This giant star also gives off harmful UV Rays that
can penetrate our skin,
harming the pigment cells
in our body.

Tanning may give the appearance of a healthy good looking body.
It isn't, it's the sign of damage. Over time UV Rays can cause unsightly red, or brown spots that may develop into skin cancer.
Please protect your skin from excessive exposure.

Heat stroke and dehydration are two additional threats that need to be taken seriously. They can be life threatening if ignored.

SYMPTOMS OF DEHYDRATION
